How to be a speaker at Unfiltered:

We are looking for personal, raw, unfiltered stories. You can talk about anything - it can be funny, reflective, creative or heartfelt. If it’s outright embarrassing - even better!

Anyone can speak at Unfiltered - we are an inclusive space and everyone is welcome. Professional speakers are welcome to speak at our events, but we ask that you use the platform to test something new or share something personal rather than deliver your professional talks.

Outlined below are the steps to becoming an Unfiltered speaker - we can’t wait to hear your story!

Read through these non-negotiables of being a speaker:

We have a strict time limit of 5 minutes per speaker.

Definitely no selling, promoting or hidden agendas - you will be stopped!

Commit to coming prepared and ready to speak.

Intentionally offending or upsetting people will not be permitted.

If you are under 18, a parent will need to attend or provide permission.

You need to allow yourself to ENJOY the experience, no matter how nervous you are!

Apply to be a speaker, and wait to hear from us to discuss your application.

Let us know if you have any special requirements to make the experience more comfortable.

If you’re successful, prepare!

If you’re given a spot to speak you will receive guidance and reminders from us in the lead up.

We recommend you decide your topic, practice and prepare - including timing yourself to the 5 minute limit.

It’s always good to nominate someone to keep you accountable - ask them to hype you up if you start to get nervous!

Your talk will be recorded for you to look back on - and you should. It will be far better than your brain tells you it was. :)
